After my first rape in 2007, I was lost. I turned to poetry as an outlet and found comfort in getting my thoughts out and putting pen to paper. When my PTSD spiked in 2019, I went back to writing. It has never failed me.
Now that some time has passed, I’ve been able to focus my attention on sexual assault prevention and advocacy. As a proud Volunteer Member of the RAINN Speakers Bureau, I have had the opportunity to speak with various groups about my assaults, their impacts on my mental health, and the steps I’ve taken to try to heal over time. I find great comfort in sharing my story with others.
